There are a lot of really thought provoking comments that are made in this video but for me here are a couple that resonated:
- The difference between ignorance (I don't know) and apathy (I don't care). Apathy is far worse.
- Many teachers are in schools with people who are 15 to 20 years off the pace - decision making is in the hands of people in their 50s, these decisions are implemented by people in their 40s but on behalf those in their teens. Somehow there is a disconnect.
The movie is from Learning Without Frontiers - a global platform for disruptive thinkers who are exploring how technology can drive radical improvements in learning. There is an excellent article on their blog about how the iPad can change learning.
LWF seems to be an exciting new movement in education. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on them in future.
