Pre-K play in the snow (for real!)
Every morning our Pre-K students have their first lesson outside. This is true regardless of the weather and the temperature - the students learn outside. Over the course of the year I have seen many different learning stations that the children can choose to go to. For example I have seen them digging in a small garden at the side of the playground, jumping around on hay, exploring in the sand and today even making ice sculptures. As far as technology goes, the teachers have been able to take the proscopes and easi-scopes outside, attached to their laptops, so that the students can look very closely at things they find in the playground. Last week the teachers were all impatient for the snow - they said they had heaps of ideas for different activities that students could do. Yes! This week the snow has finally come and the students are outside playing in it and exploring the new learning possibilities that come as a result.
